Horizon Houses

Horizon Houses is a registered North Carolina non-profit based in Raleigh.

Our Mission is to help provide housing and mentorship for able bodied homeless people for long enough to allow them to transition to self sufficiency.

Our Goal is to build a tiny house village to help homeless people get stable while finding and keeping employment. Our pilot project will consist of 12 tiny houses to provide shelter for our clients. The 12 tiny houses will be approximately 10'x20' and each will have a toilet, shower, sink, bed, desk, seating, electricity and freedom from the every day struggles of the streets. Most importantly, our village will have peer support and community resources.

We Need Your Help

We are raising money to further our mission and the best way you can help us is by contributing to our gofundme grant by clicking here or the button below and making a tax deductible donation. All contributions to our grant and 100% of the profits from this store will go towards achieving our goal.

Our Program

North Carolina Has A Homeless Problem

On any given night in North Carolina, nearly 10,000 people don't have a home to sleep in. Horizon Houses wants to help these people become self sufficient. We believe everyone should have a chance to succeed. Once we build our tiny houses community we will be able to help some of these people find a path to a better life. Homelessness is a problem in our community and Horizon Houses is working hard on the solution.

Horizon Houses Has A Homeless Solution

We were founded to help provide transitional housing for the homeless. We believe that with a combination of adequate housing and peer support that our clients will get what they need to overcome homelessness permanently. Our tiny houses will be designed to exceed the needs for basic shelter and our program is designed to help the homeless help themselves.

Please consider helping us help the homeless transition to a better life. Shop our store or make a donation today.

Have you ever noticed that the only metaphor we have in our public discourse for solving problems is to declare war on it? We have the war on crime, the war on cancer, the war on drugs. But did you ever notice that we have no war on homelessness? You know why? Because there's no money in that problem. No money to be made off of the homeless. If you can find a solution to homelessness where the corporations and politicians can make a few million dollars each, you will see the streets of America begin to clear up pretty damn quick!

George Carlin

We have weapons of mass destruction we have to address here at home. Poverty is a weapon of mass destruction. Homelessness is a weapon of mass destruction. Unemployment is a weapon of mass destruction.

Dennis Kucinich

Don't try to drive the homeless into places we find suitable. Help them survive in places they find suitable.

Daniel Quinn

Seven out of 10 Americans are one paycheck away from being homeless.

Pras Michel

When we bear witness, when we become the situation - homelessness, poverty, illness, violence, death - the right action arises by itself. We don't have to worry about what to do. We don't have to figure out solutions ahead of time. Peacemaking is the functioning of bearing witness. Once we listen with our entire body and mind, loving action arises.

Bernie Glassman

We have come dangerously close to accepting the homeless situation as a problem that we just can't solve.

Linda Lingle

If we truly want to end youth homelessness... then we have to invest in prevention and support communities as they work to implement these life-changing efforts.

Cyndi Lauper

Most homeless kids are on the streets because they have been forced by circumstances that cause them to think that they are safer there than in any home they once knew.

Jewel

People who are homeless are not social inadequates. They are people without homes.
